it's music to my ears...

Yeah okay so I'm really not that funny. But here's some links and stuff about my favorite music. I'm a huge music fan, and my dad can attest to that fact (when I leave my stereo blasting loud when I go somewhere).

I like a pretty wide variety of music, except I don't really like rap and I cannot STAND country-western. Kinda ironic for a girl who wants to ride horses for a living to loathe country music, huh? My favorite style is classic rock, followed by modern (alternative) rock and new age/ambient/techno.
2/3/03 - I've been on a classical kick lately. Mozart, a lot of Debussy, Tschaikovsky, and I have been diggin the soundtracks of Last of the Mohicans, Meet Joe Black, and Willow. Just today I went back to a little more rock... I guess I've been really mellow and happy since I moved here :) Today I've been on a goofy kick... like the Office Space soundtrack, Caviar - Tangerine Speedo and Irish Punk Rock (Dropkick Murphys - Drunken Lullabies).

CLASSIC ROCK
When it comes to Classic Rock, I can't go without. This is my #1 love, and I could listen to a classic rock radio station for hours without changing the channel. I'm a habitual channel-changer, too... so that's quite an accomplishment. I have many favorite artists, and many favorite songs. I have WAY too many favorite songs so I'll just list the favorite artists and a few REALLY good songs.. In no particular order, with reccomended songs listed..

Jimi Hendrix: Great songs are Little Wing, Red House, Foxy Lady, and millions of others. Go buy the greatest hits CD.

Pink Floyd: Did you ever watch the Wizard of Oz with the Dark Side CD instead of the TV sound? It's really cool! I love their version of Knocking on Heaven's Door. I also love their Dark Side of the Moon Cd, with my favorites being Breathe and Time. And of course, the Wall.

Led Zeppelin: Oh man. Everything. Black Dog, Hey What Can I Do, Stairway To Heaven, When The Levee Breaks, TONS more.

Some classic songs that I love:
Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Lucky Man. I love this song, it's so melodious.
Metallica - Master Of Puppets. This has GOT to have the most beautiful guitar solo I have ever heard.
Bon Jovi - Letting You Go. This song is so beautiful. I've loved it for years.
Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes. What needs to be said beside: John Cusack. Boombox blasting, held over his head. What a great movie and what a great song.

Honorable classic un-rock mention to Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. Those guys were incredible.

MODERN ROCK
Alternative Rock is kind of my first love... it was the first style of music that I really fell in love with. Usually I have my varying favorites from this genre, because it changes to quickly. I do have some old standbys that I LOVE, but definitely some great temporary favorites.

Pearl Jam: One of the greatest Seattle bands. These guys might be considered retro pretty soon cuz they have been around forever but they are one of my all-time favorite bands, Great songs are Garden, Release, Elderly Woman, and their version of Last Kiss can't be beat.

Deftones: I love these gyus. Seen them in concert more than once and they totally rocked. Chino Moreno is the man. It's great angry/cleaning music. Good songs are Bored, 7 Words, Teenager, Digital Bath, and Change.

Incubus: These guys are way cool, and my current favorite band... I remember when they weren't well known and I remember when they got famous! I love Brandon's voice, and their style is so unique. I also like how they don't have to be swearing every other word... their last CD was almost wholesome! Great songs are Stellar and Wish You Were Here, but to be honest I can't really pick other favorites because I'd have to list every song! My favorite ALBUMS are S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself.
Update 2/3/03 - Their song "Echo" rocks!

Staind: I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Aaron Lewis has a SEXY voice. As if that weren't common knowledge already! Favorite Staind songs are Home, Epiphany, Awhile, and Outside.

NEW AGE/TECHNO/AMBIENT
Delerium definitely fits this category. The song is called Innocente. You know, I never know what to call this style because it's all so different, yet the same! I first fell in love with Enigma, my brother always had great music and he had their CD. With this genre it's not so much stuff I hear on the radio, mostly just artists that get reccomended to me by others and so I have tons of their music.

Enigma - The originals. Kinda weird sometimes... but listen to their song called "Gravity Of Love," and you will know why I fell in love with them.

Clannad - I got hooked on these guys after watching The Last of the Mohicans, and they did a song in the movie called "I Will Find You". That song remains one of my favorites, but I've grown to love all of their music. They have a very unique style, from an Irish/Celtic background, I'd say it's like Celtic folk music... they even write lots of their songs in Gaelic. For those of you who know who Enya is, this was her first band and the lead singer is her cousin, Maire. Great songs (aside from Find You)... I'll have to get bck to you on that one.. I'm always listening to their CD and never know what the actual song titles are. But my favorite CD of theirs is their Greatest Hits (not the Best Of, although that one's a close 2nd).

Enya - She's amazing. Pretty popular, as well. My favorite CD of hers is Watermark, and I have the same issue with her music that I know NONE of my favorite song titles... just what CD they are on (vaguely).

Delerium - These gyus sang a song called "Silence" with Sarah McLachlan that was absolutely beautiful and I had to have more of their music after I heard that song. They are remixed a lot by techno DJs, so you might find lots of their remixed stuff but the originals are awesome. The Paul Oakenfold remixes are pretty good. My favorites are Forgotten Worlds, Silence, Terra Firma, and Innocente.

My comments, notes, etc. Mostly just my ramblings.
