I'm a huge movie fan as well. What I really like are QUOTABLE movies. My friends call me Miiss Movie Quote because I'm always interjecting in conversations with funny movie quotes. It just kinda sucks when I'm the only one who has seen that movie!
I like most kinds of movies except I hate sappy girl love story type movies. And I can't stand Julia Roberts or Jennifer Love Hewitt, so I'll refuse to see any movies they are in. My favorite Actor is Vin Diesel, and my favorite actress is a tie between Angelina Jolie and Janeane Garofalo. Here are some movies that I don't think any normal human being should be without seeing... because if you haven't seen them, you are terribly deprived.
Naturally, I will be adding more as I see more and I think of more movies that I love. Until then, this is it.
The Crow is my favorite movie of all time. Brandon Lee kicks ass and the movie is probably one of the most romantic movies I've ever seen, in a dark sorta way. Every time they come out with another movie in the *series*, I cringe. The first one was the only movie that was good, and the rest are just kind of trying to make money off the fact that the first one was so great.
Meet Joe Black - This is a really great movie that has a lot of meaning to me... not only is Sir Anthony Hopkins a fabulous actor, but I guess I really identify with this movie. It's about a businessman who is visited by the angel of death, but this angel wants to live life as a human, so he makes Hopkins' character show him around. It's a good movie, albeit long, and a family favorite. This movie reminds me every time I see it that no woman should ever marry a man that she never felt a "whispter of a thrill" with... that's not something I've ever felt before but I hope to someday :)
Serendipity - Okay, I said I don't like "chick flicks" but this movie was excellent. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale are both great actors... plus this movie reminds me of someone I knew once...
The
Boondock Saints is the only favorite of mine that I don't own. Why, you
may ask? Well, because of a greedy enterprise called Blockbuster who bought
all of the rights to the movie and kind of swept the whole thing under the
carpet. With the proper advertising and promotion, this movie could've hit
it BIG. Instead, it's kind one of those underappreciated great films of this
century, sometimes said to be the best movie since Pulp Fiction. The story
is about two Irish brothers who are like vigilantes and go kill bad guys.
The action is terrific... and I am STILL trying to find a copy of this movie
on VHS.
- UPDATE: I bought the movie on DVD for $8.99. SO HAPPY!
The Princess Bride is probably the only semi-chickflick I'll ever like, just because it isn't really a romance. It's more of an action flick than anything. I've loved this movie since I was a child, because it kind of embodies what a little girl dreams of. A handsome pirate who battles monsters and undergoes torture for you and then comes and rescues you on a white horse from the evil prince who forces you into marrying him... it appeals to the imagination.
Adam Sandler movies that I love... I'd buy any one of his movies without seeing it first, because I know it's going to be great. I love Adam's humor and his movies are often THE most hilariously quotable ones around. (The Wedding Singer, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Waterboy are my favorites)
Office Space is THE single most quotable movie, in my opinion. It's SO funny, and even my father was practically rolling on the ground within the first five minutes. This movie was also not promoted very well, but luckily for them, word of mouth is a great thing and it's actually become a fairly commonly known film now. I could quote the entire movie. And that fact can really annoy people :) A must see for anyone who has a job. Mike Judge is a great director.
My comments, notes, etc. Mostly just
my ramblings.
